Description
Wild, Free, & Beautiful: This beautiful coyote was eyeing me cautiously from the edge of the dark forest as light snow began to fall. Fit and healthy, its heavy winter coat protects it from the cold. Rodents such as mice, squirrels, and rabbits make up the bulk of its diet but coyotes will also feed from the carcasses of deer, moose, sheep, or elk killed by wolves, bears, or the elements. Lone coyotes are generally quite skittish but if they are in a pack and hungry, they can be aggressive and a lone hiker can start to look like dinner. Alberta, Canada. Copyright Greg Hammond.
